Man Arrested for Arson at Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence: What We Know

On April 13, 2025, a fire broke out at the official home of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro in Harrisburg. The Governor and his family were inside but were safely evacuated by state police. Fortunately, there were no injuries, though the residence sustained significant damage.

Authorities quickly identified and arrested the suspect, 38-year-old Cody Palmer, a Harrisburg resident with a criminal history. Police say Palmer climbed over a 7-foot fence and used homemade Molotov cocktails to start the fire. He reportedly planned to attack the Governor with a hammer if he had the chance.

Palmer now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, terrorism, arson, and aggravated assault. He remains in custody while the FBI and local officials continue to investigate his motives.

Governor Shapiro responded firmly, saying, “This kind of violence has become too common and must stop.”

The incident has raised new concerns about the safety of public officials across the country.
