In a shocking Christmas Eve tragedy, a 27-year-old Long Island man has been charged with the death of his mother. Police have identified the victim as Josefina Ramirez Montero, 57, who was found unconscious in her Massapequa home.
Authorities say the suspect, Jeremy Ramirez, stabbed his mother multiple times in the chest and abdomen after she returned home from a laundromat. Emergency responders took Josefina to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Court records show Jeremy had a history of violence, including assault and weapons charges. He was recently released from prison earlier this year after serving time for attempted murder.
Jeremy faces charges of second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court on December 30. Police are still investigating the motive for this tragic attack.
